Africa’s population is less than 10 percent of the world’s population, but Africans speak about one-third of all the world’s languages. Some languages have millions of speakers, and others only a few thousand. Hausa, with more than 50 million speakers, and Yoruba are the two leading languages. Other languages with more than 10 million speakers include Ibo, Swahili, Lingala, and Zulu.
